The Junoesque 2014 Year in Review

Happy New Year Everyone! I thought on this first day of the new year, I would take the time to look back on the year that came before. I can barely remember 2014, it went by so fast. But some major highlights:

All photos from my Instagram: @elayna_thejunoesque

I went to see The Lion King show at the Kennedy Center. So awesome!

I saw my little sister graduate from college. Tearjerker.

I quit my job to focus on growing my business. To that end I redesigned my website and opened up my own Etsy and Society6 shops. 2014 was the year of fearlessly putting myself out there.

Speaking of putting myself out there, I also entered a few Talenthouse contests. They have given me a chance to push my creativity and gives me something to do when I don’t have any clients. Check out my profile here.

I got into a car accident and went to the emergency room for the first time. (not really a highlight, but a major event)

I completed a number of graphic design projects including the logo for Sisters of Destiny and my sister’s book cover.

I focused more on creating my own artwork. Both digitally and more recently traditionally.

I started Duolingo to try and accomplish my longtime goal of becoming fluent in French and I took a number of Skillshare classes to broaden my skill set including calligraphy and fashion illustration.

My top 5 most popular posts of the year were:

Tall Girls are taking over Hollywood

The Top Ten Best Things About Being Tall

Less than 1%

PZI Jeans Review

10 reasons why tall girls should wear heels

It’s funny that all of those were not posted in the year 2014. But I’m glad you all liked them so much. My favorite posts of the year were:

The Tall Life in Gifs

Beauty cannot sustain you

Mini Pineapple Upside Down Cakes Recipe

January Favorites

The Tall Girl Experience in Gifs (technically this was published in Dec 2013. But I still love it. Close enough right?)

My goals for this year are:

Take a sewing class. For so long my creativity was stifled so I working to have multiple creative outlets so I can achieve my other goal to create more.

Continue to get more exposure for my business which includes entering more contests, blogging on my website more and maybe even an Inked Designs FB page.
Learn more. I want to become more proficient in Adobe design software but I am also learning how to paint in watercolor. In the past I acrylic was my medium of choice but I love the look and feel of watercolor.

Spend more time reading my Bible/strengthening my relationship with God vs watching TV

I am truly excited for what’s to come in 2015. I am expecting big things!

Be Blessed and I pray you have a prosperous New Year!

    • I am so glad you like the blog Marie. By the time I was 15 I was already 6’2″ so I completely understand. Keep your head up high and know that you are not alone.
