Welcome to the first edition of my “Favorites”. This will be a new series I will be adding here as a result of the few survey responses I’ve received requesting it. (Please keep the responses coming. Seriously, I need your feedback. If you haven’t, please take the survey here.) My favorites will be a monthly post listing the things I have been enjoying in that particular month. It can be anything from tall fashion, to natural hair products to nail polishes to accessories to music. So on to my favorites for the month of January.
The first thing I have been loving is the Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter. You may remember from my previous natural hair update, that I was looking for an alternative to the MyHoneyChild Type 4 Hair Creme to twist my hair with. And I think I found it. It gives great definition and does a good job of moisturizing my hair. I don’t twist my hair up at night but even at the end of the week I still have some definition. The sides of my head a little less so because I sleep on my side. And I do end up with some frizz but I don’t mind it.
ASOS Vintage Dial Strap watch. I may have mentioned in a previous post that I am on a watch collecting kick. I wanted to get a more classic, vintage-y one and I happened upon this gem from ASOS. It is a little smaller than I am used to but it quickly grew on me.
ASOS Curve Multipack of 3 fine gold rings. I have been seeing these type of rings all over the place but couldn’t find any that would fit my larger than average fingers. ASOS lucked out for me again with these simple gold rings. They came in a pack of 3. I ordered a L/XL and I could’ve gotten away with a M/L instead because they are a little big on me.
Modcloth Stand Tall necklace. I saw this baby and I had to have it. On top of that it was only $9.99! Yep it was definitely coming with me. I have to represent for all my tall girls out there. It’s so cute and pretty. I love it.
Sinful Colors Endless Blue nail polish. I kinda went crazy in Target a while back and bought 6 nail polishes at once. They were only about $2 a piece but I’ve never bought that many at once. This is one of the polishes I bought. Isn’t it pretty?
Inspiring Poetry Top from Modcloth. You may have seen this top in my massive haul post and I praised the gorgeous top then. It was a given to include it here.
Torrid high top wedge sneakers. I also mentioned these in my massive haul post and I’ve only worn them once so far but I already know these are going to be a favorite. They take your casual outfit up a notch and they are pretty comfortable throughout the day. My big toes tend to get pinched later on in the day but it is bearable.
BBC Sherlock. Sherlock is back and oh, the feels! This is such a well-written, well acted show! If you follow me on Instagram, you would now when the rest of the world was watching the Grammys, I was watching Sherlock. I have seen the first two episodes of this season and I can’t wait to watch the next/last one. I have been a huge fan since the show started and the my love for it continues to grow. And I won’t mention the fact that I am bordeline obsessed with Benedict Cumberbatch…
Duolingo. One of my goals this year was to brush back up on my French. I happened to spot an article about this program when my friend posted about it on Facebook and I immediately went to check it out. Duolingo turns learning into a game. Getting questions right allows you to level up but if you get them wrong you lose a “life”. Addictive and entertaining.
Songs on repeat this month:
Tamela Mann-I can only imagine
Emeli Sande-My Kind of Love
Hillsong United-Oceans
Tye Tribbett-What can I do
Anything Pentatonix. They are awesome!
I hoped you enjoyed this first edition of my Favorites. Stay tuned for my Favorites for next month.
TTFN,
Elayna
