In the Hipster Army

I first posted about this Kate Mara look in my Pinterest Picks of the Week a couple of weeks ago. I call this look “In the Hipster Army” because of the mix of the military double breasted jacket with the oxford trend. I love this look. I’m already partial about military style blazers but it also incorporates the oxford trend that is big now. I am not really into the oxford trend, but with this outfit, I like it.katemara-outfit

The look is menswear inspired but don’t mistake, the look is still feminine and classy.

The blazer was the hardest to find. I couldn’t find one exactly like Kate’s but I ultimately chose this one from Dillard’s because of the color and the shiny military gold buttons down the side. The 3/4 sleeves of the jacket would be easy to camouflage the fact that the sleeves are too short better than a jacket with full sleeves. If you don’t like this one, I listed a couple other options I was deciding between below.

The jeans are from Alloy. I decided on a pair that has similar whiskering as in the photo.  I could not find a oxford in that color in our size so I settled on some gray ones from Barefoot Tess. I think I prefer these. But if you want the color but don’t care for the oxford, check out the Kingston linked below.

Do you like it? How’d I do? Links are below.

DV by Dolce Vita ‘Marvin’ Oxford (Grey) from Barefoot Tess. 11-13 $79 or the Kingston in Rust

Royal Blue Dark Wash Skinny Jean from Alloy. up to 37″, up to size 25. $29.90-$34.90

Cremieux Novelty-Button Knit Blazer in Poppy from Dillards. XS-L $119 color closer. 3/4 sleeve. not as long in body
Some more options: Double Breasted Schoolboy Blazer and MNG by Mango One Button Suit Jacket
